The Baekdubo, or 白頭寶 in Chinese characters, is a variety of Baekho orchid that underwent a transformation from the original [Okgeumgang]. In 2009, the owner obtained a young specimen with a faint stripe on one or two leaves from a specialized orchard. Through cultivation, it transformed into a mountainous snow-white tiger. Initially, there were one or two vague stripes (arcs) on a few leaves, which eventually developed into the clear mountainous lines seen today. This orchid is characterized by its pure and noble qualities, displaying a beautiful pure white color with excellent continuity in its pattern.
Similar to other white-patterned varieties that are generally sensitive to strong light, the Baekdubo has a slightly thinner white pattern and is sensitive to intense sunlight. The name "Baekdubo" was given by the owner, Kim Deok-heon, inspired by a video of the white snow on the top of Mt. Baekdu. The orchid was officially registered as a new product by the Korea Pung Orchid Association in 2012.
The Baekdubo orchid features a dark persimmon color, wide and thick two lobes, with the left and right sides resembling seedlings. It has a knee root on the knee axis, and the attachment has a straight wave shape.
